One more time

Good fun. A solid practical positive rehearsal. We played :

Heya
Have Some Fun
Fertile Mind
Fire & Clay
Defying Science
Justify
Follow Her Down
Don't Feel Free
Blues At My Door
Bones Are Buried
Hit The Peaks
Sweet Nothing
Elixir Of Life
Happen To Love You

We've had a chat round tour logistics and distances. There are a few long drives, but we're all buzzing about the trip.

That's it for preparations - next time we play we'll be soundchecking in London.

Good.

Telecaster Burn.

Changed days for the Primevals - we sat before the gig and blethered over an espresso, a Guinness, a Fiery Ginger Ale .... not the previous large numbers of Red Stripes or Furstenbergs.

The gig went well, and we were well received. We had one or two slightly iffy moments, which were probably not too noticeable unless you know what is meant to happen at those points. All in all, a successful and enjoyable first gig for this lineup.

Rhod Burnett, a tribal elder and original Primevals drummer was there and enjoyed it. It's always good to see Rhod. Ady Gillespie (who, with Rhod, runs The Nutmeg City Orchestra) was also there, enthusiastic and on good form. A small gathering of the tribes, with Doods from the Word NW Massive representing and my friend Dave from work.

Rehearsal on Tuesday, then a break until we hit London. There is some to & fro with Paris - the original venue went on fire, and won't have a certificate for bands in time for our gig. There are alternatives lined up now. And we're playing in a record shop in Nimes as part of International Record Store Day.

My leather jacket didn't offer much protection against the sharp edge of the Telecaster - I've got a rather nippy friction burn on my forearm. I didn't think I would need a strum-guard for a 40 minute set. I'll learn.

oddly fun

We had a go at a pile of covers - I Happen To Love You, You Burn Me Up & Down, Not For Me, Sweet Nothing, I Gotta Do Things My Way, Plastic Factory, The Snake, Alcohol, Kandy Korn.

Pebbles-style garage rock, Northern Soul, Brill Building, Detroit Rock .... all grist to our mill.

Plus we shaved a few edges off Defying Science, Stream Of Life and ran through DT Blues, Eternal Hotfire and American Road Trip.

All set for the show on 26th in Glasgow.

Now a glass of red and no music at all.

Showtime! and Merch!

Glasgow gig confirmed - 13th Note, Saturday 26th March onstage 5:30pm as part of a multi-band garage/punk rock all dayer.

We're not in the listings at the moment - but we'll be there.

So we're rehearsing this week (on St Patrick's Day - did you ever hear the like?), week off, gig on the Saturday, one more rehearsal then away we go!

Also - we're preparing t-shirts for the tour at £10 - anyone interested ? If so, drop me a line. If we get a few sales early on it will make the rest of the tour go a bit more smoothly. I'll post pics of what we're planning to put on them.

Put a fork in them, they're done

Another rocking night in LoFi. We rehearsed the London set. We're ready NOW!

We also played some more new tunes - Defying Science (from Disinhibitor) and Hit The Peaks. Plus Fertile Mind, Justify, I Happen To Love You and the 14 songs in the set. We did a bit of re-sequencing of the set, but now all we want to do is get on stage.

We've come a long way in a short time. 2 more rehearsals and it's London : I hope the various efforts to get a gig before that come to fruition. But if they don't we'll still have a ball.

Really good rehearsal

We blasted through the set for London in 45 minutes and ran through a few others.

All played well, most enjoyable evening.

Van arrangements seem set - splitter van, take our own backline. While there may be a cost saving if we use local backline there is also the opportunity for this to be complicated and unreliable.

One more and we're looking for a gig or two local, low-key.
