The Primevals have been back in The Foundry, the studio where we have recorded the last several albums. A few weeks ago, we spent a weekend recording the basic tracks, sticking to our proven methods - record the basic track live, with everyone, then work from the best take. As always, we had a great time.
Day one covered all 12 songs - drums, bass, guitars, some keyboards, and guide vocals. Day two added guitar overdubs and some additional keyboards. So far we have kept pretty much all the live guitars - we have plenty to pick and mix with. We used different guitars for the overdubs - I did most of mine with my Grestch Electromatic, which has a P90 - that contrasts nicely with the other guitars.
We are heading back tonight to start on the final vocals, start arrangements (which generally means subtracting some guitar parts), and, as always, enjoy each others' company over a cup of tea and some of Tunnocks' finest.
